The Deer Hill Art program is closely aligned to the Massachusetts Art Curriculum Frameworks and the newly created, National Visual Arts Standards. In class we address the formal elements of art, color, line, space, texture, value, shape, and form, while encouraging a student's personal expression. Students understand how the arts can convey personal meaning along with external context. 5th grade students are given personal sketchbooks and are expected to bring these to each art class. Students will be working in their sketchbooks and will have the chance to share their explorations and ideas with the class.

In May, an art show entitled, "Favorites", is exhibited and celebrates the best and favorite artwork chosen by every Deer Hill student. There are close to 500 pieces on display, and we have a grand opening party to celebrate all the artists.
